Ilorin is a critical connection point along the Lagos – Kano – Jibiya trade route. Of all the commodities transported along the axis, agriculture is the most potent for transformative development.
With several targeted products per zone, this route is additive by nature and complements value chains across key staple crops for national food security and high-value/high-demand exportable commodities. Aside from agriculture value chains, transportation is also a critical trade enabling factor that private partners can profitably invest in.
Kwara’s focus crop under Lakaji is Cashew and its value chain. The critical trade enabling investment possibility is an integrated logistics network that includes a truck plaza, inter-city light rail (agro-produce mainly), and ferry services.
This project is a product of USAID’s Nigeria Expanded Trade & Transport initiative, in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria and partner states, of which Kwara is one.
